What is Tasectan®?

Tasectan® is formulated to control and reduce the symptoms associated with diarrhoea. It is usually effective within 12 hours and is safe to use in adults, children and infants. It is available in an adult pack of 8 capsules and the children’s pack is in sachets of 10. By adding water to the children’s dosage, not only is the diarrhoea treated safely but the child becomes more hydrated which is very important,

What is in Tasectan®?

Tasectan® is a cross linked, stabilised genatin. Gelatin Tannate.

Is Tasectan® safe to use in babies and children?

Yes Tasectan® is safe to use in children and infants from 3 months.

What dosage of Tasectan® should I take?

Adults: 1-2 capsules every 4-6 hours until the symptoms disappear
Children under 2 years: Consult a doctor or pharmacist prior to use. On advice: 1 sachet every 6 hours until symptoms disappear.
Children under 3 years: 1 sachet every 6 hours until the symptoms disappear
Children aged 3 to 14 years: 1 or 2 sachets every 6 hours until the symptoms disappear
Children aged 14 to 18 years: 2 sachets every 6 hours until the symptoms disappear

Do I need a prescription for Tasectan®?

No Tasectan® is available over the counter in pharmacies. Please talk to your pharmacist and pharmacy assistant about the effectiveness of Tasectan®

How do I give my baby Tasectan®?

Disperse the contents of one sachet in a glass of water. It can also be added to fruit juices yoghurt or milk.

Can I use an oral rehydration solution with Tasectan®?

Yes oral rehyration solutions can be used with Tasectan®. Tasectan® is a complementary treatment to rehydration. Adequate liquid intake and a light diet is recommended in the treatment of diarrhoea.

Can I use Tasectan® if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

It is recommended to consult with a doctor prior to use.

How soon should Tasectan® start working?

Tasectan® is usually effective within 12 hours.

Where can I purchase Tasectan®?

Tasectan® is only available from pharmacies nationwide.

Will Tasectan make me bloated or constipated?

No, Tasectan® has no effect on motility. Therefore it will not cause bloating or constipation.
